Sisters and Brothers of the HTA:
It is with heavy hearts that we send this message. The concern expressed at the February Representative Assembly regarding probable layoffs has become a reality. These are not easy times. Sixteen of our sisters and brothers have received notification of layoff. It is painful and frustrating. While we must maintain a working relationship with the district, this should not be perceived as acceptance of their decisions. The HTA remains staunchly opposed to any reduction in staffing. Our stance is that no loss of jobs is justifiable. Now more than ever we must demonstrate unity. We again ask that no one does anything extra, anything for free. We ask that all members remain cognizant of the contract, but do not do anything that goes beyond the expectations of employment. We ask that members wear their Union gear on Wednesdays to illustrate our collective strength. And, most importantly, we ask that members continue to care for one another. Your Union officers will continue to fight, and we need you to fight with us. In Solidarity, Amy Takacs, HTA President Matt Meader, HTA Vice President |
Polar Plunge 2023The cold didn't keep these brave souls away. Some of our thrill seeking Hamburg teachers plunged into the icy cold waters of Lake Erie to raise money for the Specials Olympics. Our HTA team raised $2,776, helping the Special Olympics raise over $500,000 this year!
